The Padthaway Caravan Park is found in the Limestone Coast Wine Region of SA. It was recently visited by Linda and the Jayco Caravan Club of Australia where they had a fantastic time. Linda says they were greeted at the park with a ‘hand painted bag containing all the relevant information about the surrounding vineyards and attractions’.
Padthaway Caravan Park is a great spot to base yourself while exploring the Limestone Coast. Visit some of the local vineyards, go on some bush walks and don’t forget to visit Naracoorte Caves. “Naracoorte Caves are approximately 40km away and well worth a visit, as is the Morris Bakery in Naracoorte, yum!” says Linda. “The park is situated next to a conservation park which conducted a free tour of the wild orchid trail.”
The park is has a relaxed garden setting had its facilities are modern and clean. There are plenty of native trees and plants around which attract plenty of wildlife, such as birds. “After all the dry conditions, this park was a fantastic shock,” says Linda. “Beautifully maintained lawn sites, and our site had shrubs on both sides. With that and the conservation park opposite, it was very private.”
They have disabled facilities, as well as a fully equipped laundry, animal enclosure and allow pets on some conditions. Padthaway has a range of accommodation from unpowered sites through to powered sites and cabins.
“The park hosts (Rosemary and Matt) were extremely helpful and were very welcoming, even putting on a sausage sizzle and damper around a roaring fire on Saturday night.” The campfires occur in winter and early spring next to the shady picnic area that is a great spot for a happy hour or two.
Linda says all and all, she gives this park an 11 out of 10. “We all agreed the management were second to none. I would certainly recommend this park for clubs and as a wonderful stop over for visitors to the Limestone Coast.
